I'm working on a 30,000 gal. outdoor display. I'd like to turn it into an Amazonian themed pond because it's right next to our tropical bird display, which is primarily Amazonian macaws and parrots. The difficulty I'm running into is finding good habitat requirements for the fish I'd like, specifically: arowana, plecos, tambaqui, and arapaima. Temps and pH are my primary concerns at the moment, but any suggestions are welcome. I'd also like to include some giant lily pads, so if anyone knows good places to buy them and ways to install them, that would be wonderful.
The pond is about 40'x20'x10' with a small island in the middle. I'd like to cover that in flowering plants, but that is less of a priority.
Thanks for the help.
