Does anyone have experience with this fish? Will it eat anything other than live feeder fish? Tankmates; yes or no?

I've read a lot of conflicting information about this fish, so any help will be appreciated!

Hello, I don't have exp but I'm going to talk anyway. I have an article about them in my magazine, but too lazy. If you really want, I could get it. It's hard to get them off feeders, they like guppies a lot. They do fine with tankmates that won't bother them, and that can't fit in their mouth. Keep in mind an adult leaf fiish can fit a 2 inch danio into it's mouth. Peaceful tankmates are best, but leaf fish are generally best alone.

Well if they are anything like my Leopard Ctenopoma then they should eat flakes and pellets if they have tank mates that they can learn from that they are food...

I've had them, and they can be kept with like sized, non agressive fish...love live food but mine were used to eat white mosquito larvae ( glass worms? )

i just got one all it eats is feeders and a few crickets i have him with a ctenopoma and he is much shyer the ctenopoma eats every thing but the leaf is very picky

The're definiely picky with foods. They usually won't touch anything other than live foods...and they can eat about their own weight in fish everyday so you would be wise to set up a breeder tank.

You can have tankmates with them as long as they are larger and passive. Make sure the tank is VERY well planted with large leaves, subdued lighting, and lots of driftwood.

as far as tank mates go just make them to big to be eaten and relativly calm they need to be in a planted tank so nothing that likes to play lawnmower
