Hey, does anyone know how big these puffers get? I was told they get to an average size of 3", 5", 10", and even a foot long. So what's the correct average length for this freshwater puffer? And what foods will make this puffer grow quickly? I've had him for over a year in my 55 Amazon bio type fish tank and he's barley grown a half inch. Is there something I'm missing? Any one experienced in this subject will make my day.

I feed him blood worms and shrimp, and ocationally snails when I can get them at my work. And I trim his teeth every month almost. They grow quick for a puffer.

Average size is around 3" max, although there are the odd exception, otherwise expect 3" to be normal...

Other than bloodworms / shrimp / snails, try maybe mixing in some high quality pellets to round off his diet? Also are they in a group or just a singleton?

Since this is known to be one of the only social puffers that prefers being in groups of 3 or more...

No he's by himself with other fish like a chocolate cichlid, black bar silver dollars (the smaller species), a two spotted pike cichlid, snowball plecos, a columbian spotted pleco, striped Raphael catfish. And soon to be in the tank three spotted earth eaters/geophagus, red tailed chalceus, and jaguar catfish, and maybe a rainbow wolf fish. Heard the rainbows are pretty calm compared to there huge aggressive cousins. But other than that, there are no other Amazon puffers. He's eaten Rosie red minnows before and tore them to shreds. And the bigger fish in the tank don't mess with him.

Seems like he has more than enough tank mates to keep him occupied lol... so i would guess even as a singleton might be okay as long as he isn't showing any signs of stress etc which looking strictly at that photos seems to be doing well although maybe could give him a bit more food ;)
