My amazon swords were doing great for the last year. And now all the new leaves that come in are a very pale green almost white color. I dose weekly with Kent freshwater plant growth. And i have a diy co2 hooked to a power head. The lighting is 130w power compact and the bulbs are 6700k. The bulbs are changed once a year and they are 3 months old. This is the same system as always. I have also been getting some ABA algae as well around the filter inlets. What is the problem? iron deficiency? needs more co2? Needs a different fert. ---------------Is excel flourish good.------------thanks alot for the help

They are being starved for nutrients. What all do you dose, what is your water change schedule like, and what is your photo period?

Photo has allways been on from 10am-4pm and then off and then back on at 10pm and off again at 4am. i do this to get 12 full hours and a break to inhibit algae growth plus i work 2nd shift and get home at around 11pm and i like to see my tank. i have allways dosed once a week with kent freshwater plant growth. and i have yeast generated co2. Two 3liter jugs hooked to power heads and timers to come on at 1 hour before the lights and go off with them. I also run air in the midday break from a bubble stone to gas out the tank.

Kents plant ferts do next to nothing in any of my tanks. I can add it to my tank like water, try seachem ferts, they are much better.

agreed, the seachem ferts have the nutrients in a much more readily available state (namely: iron). I have only used kent and seachem ( never really saw fit to venture outside that), but seachem is the hands down winner. If you go with Seachem ferts you really only need Flourish (macro) and Excel (carbon). $44 to get 2 LITERS of each off drs. foster smith.
