I have had my brandtii in a planted tank for about six months now and havent had a problem with him.. but lately he has been eating my amazon sword plants which i find to be quite odd.. i havent changed his feeding regimine at all he eats 4 to 5 silversides a day along with smelt and other frozen fish and is around 9 inches.. has anyone else had any problems with there p's eating there plants? not that it bothers me i would rather him be healthy and in good healt that have big beautiful plant i was jus wondering..

if you don't like your p's nibbling on your plants then use plastic ones..

I set up my Irritans tank with plastic plants.. but the tank does not even come close in beauty comparison to the Brandtii tank.. I would definately go with live if i had the right lighting

some of my piranhas have decided to take bites out of my plants over the years, some of them actually made quite the habit of it. for some reason tho, it always seems to be the amazon swords that they go after the most. is your brandtii just takin a bite here and there or is he really shredding the leaves up?

On some of the Leaves there just nipped up and sometimes he bites the base of the leaves and the whole thing floats to the top.. Hes also a homocidal maniac and replanting has to be one of the scariest things i ever have to do.. after the first bite i dun really wanna go through that again lmao..

haha, i know what you mean, i just got done adding a couple plants to my mixed shoal tank bout 15 minutes ago, i have eight of them to watch and they are definitely not scared of me, they swim right through my arms and brush up against my hands. i don't think they'll bite me, but the thought is always in the back of my mind, oh well....

The thing is that its a black water tank so my water is tea colored.. the back and sides are heavily panted and the fixture i use for the plants is off when i am home. so the tank is very very dim. so he kinda pops out of the plants wherever without me knowing where hes gunna be.. hes bitten me once while planting and is a finger chaser for sure.. i usually just wait till the plants get stuck at my overflow box and use one finger to scoop it out.. Is anyone else scared of there fish? lmao, out of all the things you can be scared of
