amazon swords !!

Amazon Swords thrive when their roots are planted in about 2 inches of substrate. I have never tried to float swords on the surface but I'm sure they wouldn't last very long nor look very good in that short period of time. That being said swords can be grown out of the water. For example I have two pretty large swords planted in clay pots with a medium sized gravel/sand mix and about 3inches of the leaves are above the water level, it also looks as though I am getting a flower stalk. If you are looking for cover you could check out the pond section of your local nursery (when they start opening up) they usually have all kinds of floater plants (like the dreaded Duckweed... which in fact I really like) you can choose from. These plants have roots that dangle down but don't need to be in the substrate.

Oh yeah, Watersprite can be left to float.... I can't really think of any others off the top of my head. I hope that helps a little.
