Hello! I`ve read in some Web sites that aquariums that have Amazon species such as angelfish should have a special water treatment different than other aquariums. Is this true? Do you make the common water treatment ( tap water, conditioner, etc:) in your aquarium if it has Amazon species? Does it affects the fish or not? Thanks for your help.

i used it before under dose your tank it dropped my ph too low using the regular dose but other wise it works really well

The blackwater extract would probably make more of a difference if your fish were wild caught. If they were domestically bred and raised, I would say it is not necessary, they probably will do just fine in regular tap water.(depending on your local parameters of course)
That being said, adding driftwood to your tank and peat to your filter will have the same results and probably would cost alot less.

blackwater extract i think.... or you can use maple leaves... i forget how to.. but if u serch online you will find the link....

i agree probally should have said that i only use regular water and have wild angel fish and they are thriving eating well the balck water extract i have left is used on my other turtle tank not the one in my signature you are better off with regular water unless you are keeping discus

I've heard of people successfully using used tea bags in their sump/filter. Specifically earl grey tea. Cheap enough for ya?

Many fish will get stronger colors in blackwater. You can use blackwater extract or turf. I used a JBL Aquatrop (I think that was the name) and now I use turf

Peat is probably the cheapest way to go. It does really make the colors come out! The amazon farm fish still have the genetics of wild amazon fish. So why not add it. If your pH gets too low, just add some baking soda. That will stablize it or make it go back up depending on how much you add.

If you leave carbon in your filter, the brown coloring will come out in a few days.
