I have. They're great algae eaters but unfortunately they tend to be quite aggressive and will destroy delicate plants, especially Blyxa japonica. They especially love to snack on hair algae.
I kept one in a moderate/heavy planted tank with lots of different species of plants. And I kept one in a pond. The one in aquarium was peaceful.
