I recently changed filters on my 100g and replaced my large W/D filter with a CFS4 canister. I already had 2 canisters running on the tank, which I figured would be enough to keep up with the bioload till the new canister was established. Apparently I was wrong. I lost a few fish and the rest have pretty bad ammonia burn.

Most of my geos have a white edge to their fins and their eyes look pretty bad. There's a cloudy or opaque white spot in the center of one eye. The interesting thing is that in all the fish it's only the left eye that's affected. Has anyone else noticed this?

As far as treatment, I've stopped feeding the fish and I've been doing 20-40% water changes twice a day for the past week. I also added about 3 boxes of biomax which I mixed in with the existing biomedia in my canister filters.

I decided to hold off on the WC today and my ammonia levels have remained at 0ppm, so I'm guessing the filter have caught up. But my fish are still behaving listlessly and they have white patches, cloudy eyes and other burn symptoms. I added melafix to try to combat potential infection complications. Any other suggestions?
