Just had a fish driven about 12 hours before being able to acclimate it.

When the previous owner was netting it out it hits face on the glass or something and cut its face so I added salt the tank almost immediately

Ammonia reading in tank is 0.

So it was either from the trip or could coming in contact with the salt solution and water have caused ammonia burn like symptoms?

Anyways what is the best way to combat ammonia salt burn? Just wait it out and keep water pristine or should melafix be added to help?

I've had very good luck with melafix to treat open wounds. I've also used very high levels of salt and never experienced ammonia burn like symtoms from the salt. I've used up to 1 tablespoon of salt per gallon and never had that problem. Maybe something else is going on.
