The water in my 150 is quite yellow because of a large piece of driftwood. I decided to do a very large water change (about 80%) to get rid of most of the yellow. I believe I have damaged the benificial bacteria by doing so because I'm now reading 4ppm of ammonia. The fish still seem to be okay and are feeding well. Please could someone tell me the best way to get things back to normal, ie 0 ammonia and nitrite. Thanks

Your tank is going to have to (mini)cycle again. To speed this up, call the lfs and ask them if you can have some goop from their filters. Throw it into your filter.

If you cannot get live filter sludge try a product like bio-spira. I do believe that the best source for live BB is from a healthy filter though, a couple tablespoons will very quickly establish a new filter or re-establish one that has been killed off. In the meantime do a water change.
