so I just decided to check the ammonia in my tap water I even check the water after I treated with prime and it show's .25ppm ammonia WTF is this normal? Eseacially after I treated it with prime?

Yes normal for water with chloramines.

Prime will neutralize the chlorine component, and convert the ammonia (NH3) in the chloramine to ammonium (NH4) which is not toxic and will be readily consumed by your bio media. Most common test kits like API, just read total ammonia. If you want to measure NH3 only then you will need to find a test kit which does this. From memory I know seachem have one as that's what I use.

Seachem does have a test for ammonia that differentiates between NH3 and NH4. And yes, Prime will do a great job treating it.

I normally dose twice the amount recommanded for Prime during waterchanges.

Just to be safe and 2mL is seriously pathetic. And yes ammonium is still detected as ammonia in some test kits
