anyone have ammonia in there tap water

i would think that would be a bad thing? is your tap water showing ammonia? how are you testing it? could be a bad test kit. i dont think that tap water should have a detectable amount of ammonia. i could be wrong though.

I think I read somewhere that chloramines will make an ammonia test show positive.

mine has it.

thanks im glad im not the only one

I drink from some cooler in a bottle.

:iagree: i tested water sample #1 with water conditioner an it showed no ammonia

then i tested water sample #2 with out conitioner and it showed ammonia

so i thank your right:D

It depends on the test you're using, but chloramine (chlorine+ammonia) in your tap water could be detectable with the API ammonia/ammonium test. It is detectable in mine, but the ammonia is readily converted by bacteria in the tank.
