I went to the fish store and picked up my 6 months of filter media. I just recently started adding salt to my 75g with my Columbian Sharks. I am used to buying Ammonia Remover for this tank, but on the back (It's AquaClear Media), and it states "Only For Freshwater Use". Why is this?

And I bought a simple test kit for the first time in 2.5 years of fishkeeping. I've never had anything wrong with my water but I don't want to take any chances in the future. It says on the back "WARNING This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer".

????????????????? What does that mean?

Thank you.

all my fishing lures come with that warning on line you can find a web site that lists all of the stuff what will earn this warning its a few hundred things long!

Wait, so what causes it?
Like what do you have to do for it to happen? Eat it?

That state of California notice is a joke. It's on literally everything here.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is, why do you need ammonia remover? If your tank is established and being cared for properly, you should be reading zero ammonia every time.

I agree. Why not let your biological filter handle the ammonia? Cheaper, and easier.

Well, I used to buy it because I had a populated tank. But now since there are only 2 fish I don't need it anymore.

But I just want to know why it's only for freshwater tanks.

I'll just save it for sometime in the future.
I just don't see why you wouldn't be able to use it for saltwater

But thanks guys for the quick answers
