is .25 to .50 enough ammonia to make the water cloudy?

i bought a tank setup and it i am assuming was cycled because it was well established however i put new water and have been doing water changes like normal and i guess i just assumed through the gravel and filter it would stay cycled well i checked ammonia lvls today cause i cant get the water clear and its the lightest green on the chart. so its around .25-.50 ppm

how does this affect my tank should i stop water changes now and let it cycle?

the other problem is that i have nitrites and nitrates at normal lvls which i assumed meant the cycle was going as it should.

let me know ne information would be great

its a 29 gallon bow front with a 6inch gt and a 2 inch gt and a tinfoil barb...

tinbarb is about 3 inches

the cloudiness comes from ammonia levels and bacteria colonies growing to compensate for the ammonia. sounds like maybe the BB wasn't enough for the ammonia levels and the tank went back into cycling. since you already have stock, you may want to get some more established media for the filter to prevent nitrite levels really messing with your fish

If youve got detectable ammonia and cloudy water, you are cycling. Might only be a mini cycle but either way its in a cycle. If you also have detectable nitrites, its probly a mini cycle which will be shorter than an actual cycle. The cautious approach would be to let it finish. When youve got ammonia and nitrites at zero, youre good to go.

Thanks for the help. I know about cycling and such but theres still alot to learn.

thanks again

the above info was all correct, but just a heads up on that GT, he's gonna outgrow that 29, especially having 2 of them in there. your looking at atleast a 55gal needed.
