Hi guys in your experience what is the best media to help reduce ammonia in aquariums? I was told zeolite and that they were rechargeable (salt and warm water). What's your opinion? THANKS

Best? water changes and a well established, cycled, not over stocked, or over fed tank. Everything else is basically a band-aid. Prime works for moderate short term problems.

What he said. If you think you need a media for ammonia, you have other issues.

Zeolite can be used in established tanks . I use it as a safety net on heavily stocked tanks now when Im away for a few days . Had a couple mishaps in the past when i was away.

Or when transporting large fish . Its never in my filters longer than 3-4 days , its cheap . So I dont recharge I just toss it.

If you have amm readings on established tank look for a root cause first to see why tank went through mini cycle ..

Thanks to everyone. It's a bit overstocked and stingrays are a bit messy.

IMHO if you showing ammonia in an established tank you need to look into more bio filtration. I am personally a fan of SeaChem Matrix pond. but lots of other choices out there.
