Alright so one of my tanks almost crashed yesterday after adding 2 new fish so much so that i had to do a 75% water change take out all the gravel syphin the massive amounts of poo out of the tank clean the gravel and change the filter cartridge which almost failed on me yesterday haha yesterday was not a good day for fish...regardless i'm having a spike in ammonia nitrate and nitrite should i just be doing 50% water changes each day until the cycle re-establishes itself?

I didn't understand all of that but...

changing the filter cartridge probably killed off a significant portion of your beneficial bacteria, and what kind of filter and filter media do you use? if you have any carbon you'll definitely want to remove that.

also, what size is your tank and what's the stock?

continue doing large water changes, and you may want to add a sort of bottled bacteria, such as bio-spira. it's on the expensive side, but it does work.

2 oscar and a pleco in a 20 g growout tank plan on transfering them when i get home umm i think it is carbon based but i rinsed it out and im using another media in there that has cycled bacteria in it already so the filter is like doubled up and yeah im gonna get bottled water today and see if i can get some sort of slime coat thing to add to the water, my oscars are the cutest things though...the shyst oscars i've ever seen they scram right into the plastic log whenever someone comes into the room and they seem to only eat flaked food lol

buy some prime or amquel and follow the directions for overdosing on the back. Both products detoxify nitrogenous wastes and convert them to a product which is still usable by the BB.

I didn't understand all of that post either...

-Was your tank fully cycled when you added the fish?
-What filter are you using?
-What is your water change schedule?
-Are you using a water conditioner when performing water changes??
-Why did you clean the gravel?

If your tank really did crash, there was most likely something that caused your beneficial bacteria colonies to die off. You need to figure out why the crash occured so that you don't have this problem again.

You need to re-establish your bacteria, and I am not convinced that the bacteria in a bottle, "instant cycle" treatments work. In my personal experience they do not, but I have not tried every one of the plethora of treatments available.

If you have your media doubled up already, I would just watch your water parameters, and do large water changes several times a week.
