i just had a amonia spike in my tank i did a big water change but it seemed to make it worse so ive been using chemicals to bring it down what else can i do to fix it i'm supposed to be getting a tarpon today but i wank my tank fixed first
Add some prime to dextoxify the ammonia. What is your filtration, how big is your tank, what is in it now, did you recently remove all of your carbon, and how long has the tank been running for?
its a 180 i was running a cascade 1500 and a hagon aquaking after this happenwd i added another cascade 1500 and i got some filter pads from a established tank to seed my tank again and i'm dosing it with biozyme hopefully this works and i special ordered the tarpon before this happened and its already payed for but they said they can hold it for me for a few days i'm gonna keep my fingers crossed
Make sure you have your canisters filled with quality biomedia (e.g. EhFiSubstratPro). And as Miles said: You first need to gain control of your biofiltration before you can think of adding any fish to your set-up! BTW: What canister volume do the cascades have? I can only find their flow rates, but nothing about canister volume...
Try using Crushed Coral! I've been having problems with maintaining good levels in my 265g. Since Ive been using the crushed coral my ammonia and pH have been perfect. I used the entire 40lb bag for a 265 gallon tank.
