I mostly keep predators (arrows, bass, rays) so you could say my 220 would need a high bio load.

I currently have about 24 liters (6.3 gallons) of bio media. Do you think that is sufficient for a medium-high stocked tank?

Btw the media is all Eheim Substrat Pro and Ehfimech.

Test your ammonia and nitrite

Everything there is good.

I have 3 filters running

2 Fx5's, 1 eheim pro3 2080

Thinking if i should add a 4th

This is tough for someone other than yourself to answer. You mention the size of the tank and the type of fish but not the quantity or sizes. You say you have rays? I would say 2 rays could push that tank to the max. You say you have medium-high stock. I would guess it's more like high-very high stock without knowing exactly what you have going on.

Either way, you need to test your water and make sure your bio is enough. It is always better to be a little over filtered than under filtered. If you see ANY ammonia or nitrite than you are not good. And if you don't see these, it does not necessarily mean you are OK on bio. This is where testing, observation and experience is needed. If you provide some more info than we can help you get into the ballpark as to if your bio is enough.

I was thinking it looked like a very high to very very high stocking level since he said mostly predators. Then said arowanas, bass, and rays. That would make you think there was multiples of each plus a few less predatory fish. I think if that's right I'd add 4 more fx5s.

Exactly, but maybe all these fish are babies and only 3in long? But like you, I was thinking worse case. I was thinking forget more filters, this guy needs a bigger tank or tanks. :nilly:

Either way.... MORE INFO NEEDED.:D

you can add 20 fx5s, but you get to a point where you're just pumping water around. Since you should have enough mechanical filtration with what you have, the next logical step would be a wet/dry set up for purely bio, with a low flow/long dwell time for max efficiency.

I had wondered if they were babies too, but if he already has 2 fx5s and a 2080 on the tank I'd guess they're at least partially grown up.

Way to pimp that wet/dry! The 4 fx5 suggestion was an exaggeration based on the assumption he was way overstocked. Do I seriously have to spell that out for you?
