Amount of Gravel for Tank

I just ordered a 85 gallon tank and would like to know how much gravel to add. The foot print is: 48"X18". I though it was 1 lbs of gravel per gallon but its the same footprint as a 75G... Could some one give me a ball park estimate of the about of lbs I need to "generously" fill the bottom of my up and coming tank.

Depends on the kind of substrate you are using IMO. Probably anywhere from 50-80lbs I would say.

i only put 40 lbs in my 75 because my african dug so much, they would have it piled 4-5" in some places.
