Yakima,Wa.
Hi everyone, brand new to this forum but not new to fishkeeping. I was browsing the threads looking for articles on protopterus amphibius as i would like to own one of these with a yellow or red background spot arrangement any help in finding a juvinile would be app.
I live in Yakima,Wa. and there is no one even remotely into lungfish around here. I had an annectens for about a year, but had to get rid of it due to job moving to Wa. state.
I have a 100 gal. plexi just waiting for the right fish, and various smaller tanks for different stages of growth HELP!

that species is near to impossible to find in the hobby, i know of four people who would sell thier soul and send money on the spot if one comes into the country. I'm not saying they arent out there they just dont come in often :(.

great species of lungfish and one of two that i dont have or havent had yet.

Welcome to MFK!!! Seeing that Yakima in your avatar makes me miss my old stomping grounds. I used to live in Pasco adjacent to the now-gone Moore manor by the blue bridge.

Sol and I had the only amphibius that's been available in the last few years. Sol originally had a Singapore dealer ship it to him. You could buy a widescreen TV for what this little 4 inch LF cost to bring in. This poor amphib was plagued by recurrent bloat for his entire time in captivity. All treatments for bacterial, protozoan, and parasitic bloat only provided short-term relief to his bloat. I just recently lost him.
Good luck in finding one.If you have the opportunity to procure a specimen, I hope you have better luck than I did with mine.

Thanks all,i was afraid thats the responce i was going to hear ,sigh. Well threr's hope on the horizon after all,i just learned about an annectens for sale in tri cities about 1 hour away,so it's off i go to start making contact to see if he still has this fish, bye all!

Well,i made a phone call last night and found that the person having the annectens turns out to be an ex-employee of petsmart and a aqu. of mine.
So now i have an annectens about 30" or so long and a girth of aprox. 3-4" all for 50.00! Seems a little high? But now i have to break down my 50 gal. to place my wife's barbs into, and free up my 120 gal. Ishould have my LF in about 2 weeks and that is going to be a long wait.

Yep, they're african. They're shipped all over the world to whoever is willing to pay. For this decade, that means countries in Asia. They're not afraid of high rarity prices and get preferential treatment due to the high volume of rarities that go to those countries with high demand.
