Hope I didn't butcher the scientific name too much.

Picked up an 8" male yesterday, he's very shy and acclimating in a QT tank at which point I'll move him into his own 90 gallon.

Hoping to find a female down the line and breed em', but in the meantime any literature on these guys is scarce and far between.

Just looking for any helpful information on their husbandry or odd tid bits of facts on them that anyone might have, I know they're not a very common fish - so I don't expect a whole lot.

I'll post some pictures when he's done stressing and hiding from me every time I walk in the room.

Thanks. :nilly:

Nourisatti is a very mild species,(Aggro wise) especially compare to their brethren. They reach about 10 inches.
I just got rid of my eight incher. It was housed with my Viejas and Pikes. Could not hold its own against smaller Viejas, was getting its arse kicked. I took care of it just like I do my others. Frequent water changes. It ate whatever food was thrown in.
Never knew if it was a female/or male, never dropped tubes.

I have a 8 inch male house in a 90 with a synspillum and a few other smaller cichlids. Mine is pretty mellow but is in charge of the tank and chases the Synsillum around but doesn't really do any damage. Mine was shy up till about 6 months ago when I removed him from my large tank into the 90. Now he is much more outgoing. I feed him pretty much anything but he loves Spirulina.
