Amphilophus Courting Behavior

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From my experience, my Amphs started with alot of lip locking before they paired up. Sometimes it can get ugly as the males can be overly aggressive and kill the females. But once they are paired up, you will see alot of body quivering to each other. Plenty of digging and pushing the gravel around. Their colors will brighten and if you have tank mates with them, they will chase them away as a team.

Females will do the head quivering also. My female Amphilophus Chancho does that to the male all the time.
