So hard to find info on these guys. My main question is what size do the max out at some of the site's I've seen say 13.6 cm. Is this accurate? Seems pretty small for something in the midas complex any help is appreciated. They are def aggressive and good looking fish. Just hoping they will attain somewhere near citrinellum size.
 
Mine were at least 13,6cm when I left, and seemed barely out of the diaper stage.
That said, many cichlids get much larger in aquariums than the average size adult in nature. Predation being a major cause, and especially from birds, and reptiles.
I believe its easier, and much more worth the effort for something like a cormorant to see a larger fish and pick it off. The pic below is from a cenote in Mexico, where cormorants were easily catching large Jack Dempseys.
