Amphilophus Labiatus getting 13-14 inches

My friend said they can get this big I think in the wild they get that big but not in captivity I think this pic is a good example

Yeah he is what i said when i saw that pic well idk if that's nicuragua or Florida but either way he's 14 inches+

They are that big here. Actually once i was fishing or a large male and i had trouble finding anything UNDER 10-11". Although in fish tanks and raised in captivity i dont think anyone has one at 15" but they do have the potential. Its just take a lot longer and mote space to reach that size in captivity while in the wild the fish in the picture might be only 1 year old.

That one is from Hawaii. And you can tell he's long arming it quite a bit as well so you can't base the size of the fish on the size of the man.

The f0 father of my f1 red devil is around 13" or so and my male is getting close to 10" or so. Just have to provide them with optimal conditions and keep them for a long time for them to get that big but it's not impossible.

Actually it's more the other way around, far larger specimens in captivity than one will typical see in their native waters in Central America. BTW - the fish in the photo is most likely NOT a pure A. labiatus, so that picture adds zero to this discussion.

I believe that wild caught lab was a solid 12+" when that photo was taken back in Jan. 2009, and when I spoke to Chris last year he told me that male labiatus was still growing. It's already easily in the 13-14" range, possibly larger.

Yeah Thoes labs are huge but with midevil being a natural hybrid I'm suggesting the same thing that it's not pure but the same thing goes for Midas they both I heard top out at 13-14 inches

WOW, amazing set of Labs. I have 2 WC labs that are pushing the 13+" mark easy. I wish I had a couple of those bright org/red labs RD linked to. My offspring would be amazing.
