Hey, all!

I'm getting a decent-sized red devil in a few days, and I'm just curious as to what to feed him. I'm thinking of making up some European shrimp mix, but I would also like to have him on a pellet. I was thinking New Life Spectrum, as it is what I feed my Malawis, but I would like to try some Hikari. I know I'm looking for a high protein food, and Cichlid Bio-gold is 45%. The regular Cichlid Gold is only 40%. Either way, it is higher than the NLS.

As it stands he is roughly eight inches long, so he surely isn't a little guy. I'm pretty sure he's eating Omega One pellets in the store, but I'd like to give him something better. If I decide to go with Hikari, should I go with the Bio-gold for the higher amount of protein?

Thanks!

-Josh

Use regular cichlid-gold, bio-gold doesn't have xl pellets and the extra expense will quickly catch up. You won't notice a difference between the two anyway. My favorite brand for cichlids is Omega-One, I like how the first few ingredients are actually fish...

Theres nothing wrong with Omega One. Based on the ingredients, (and their website, of course) its higher quality than Hikari. I've never used NLS. Cichlid Gold is good, as well as sinking carnivore pellets. Omega one cichlid pellets or shrimp pellets are good too.
Using both brands is probably better than just using a single type of food.
