amphilophus xiloaensis...?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They're very similar to Amphilophus citrinellum (a.k.a. Midas) and their care will be about the same. An adult male grows to roughly 12" in length needs a 55-75g tank to himself. I've heard reports that they can be less aggressive than Midas, but then other sources say they are more aggressive.

Do you have any pictures? Where did you get him/her from?

They are an awesome Amp. that only gets 10". I personally keep a group of 4 good sized ones, they don't seem to mind each other or my Pbass. What do you want to know about them? I have had mine for about a year, 2 are about 9"-10" one is around 7" and the one I call a Female is around 5". I also keep them with a couple of Amp. Amarillo, this is a fish that comes from the same lake as the Xiloensis.

Well, anything Amphilophus is definently worth keeping. These guys are refered alot as "Mini Midas". Great fish to keep, especially if you can only go with a smaller tank. I have heard many kept pairs in 75g's with no problems. Enjoy and definently keep us posted.

Xilos are awsome fish to keep, I love everything Amphilophus but these guys are close to the top of the list. They get very impressive nauchal humps, don't get huge and are loaded with personailty. A good quality pellet as a staple and clean will get you one of the best looking Amphs around. I can't tell what sex it is. Good luck and please post updates as it grows.
