I know a few people keep these on MFK.
Could anyone provide some general care info for these guys?
I've read that a 55G is suitable, but would a 36''x12'' do?

Wanted a lungfish for a very long time, but this seems like a neat alternative, and requires less space.(Unless theres a lung that could live in a 36''x12'' )

They are awesome but a 36x12 seems cramped especially considering they can get 36" themselves! You can fit a lesser siren in there but they arent nearly as cool.

Also they are MEAN and are able to leave a NASTY bite!

there pretty easy to keep. i keep him in a 125gal tank all by him self. i feed him with chop sticks. Shrimp, mussles, octapus is what i feed him.

3' right now.

Thanks for the info guys.
I think I'll get a large see-through rubbermaid like what I house my RES in, with the locking top.
Most likely use a canister filter, or maybe an AC110 with suction cups on the back so I dont have to cut a hole in the rubbermaid for it, similar to what I did with my RES enclosure.

There pretty cool they live along time a good 40-50 years or so they aren't to active and do bite some times

They like fish but not as friends
