Amquel + smells terrible!

Does anybody else use amquel+ novaqua+ for prime? The amquel smells like rotten eggs. I'm definitely not buying it again.

I said the same thing about Vicks VapoRub...but my parents used it relentlessly and it worked.

It's supposed to smell that way. The odor goes away quickly once mixed with water. Prime smells the same only moreso.

Use amquel for prime?? I use prime to dechlor, etc. and I have used amquel (long ago) to dechlor, but never used amquel for prime. They both smell bad, you get used to it over the years.

The rotten egg or sulfur smell is very common in amquel,novaqua, and its the worst in prime. Its just part of there chemical makeup.

As Sodium thiosulfate and purified water age together they start to give off this sulfur smell. ST and purified water are the main ingredients in every aquarium water conditioner.

If the smell bothers you switch to Aquasafe. It contains the sodium thiosulfate as well but for some unknown reason it does not give off the rotten egg (sulfur) smell.

i use amquel plus all the time its does its job so it is worth the smell

amquel RULEZ i know it smells like eggs ( my mom says skunk) but it works wonders i buy that and novaqua buy the gallon
