For non-gun people only. For the usual gun guys on the board lets see what other people have to say first.

My question is, can you please define the terms below based on what you know or have heard.

Gun Show Loophole

Assualt Weapon

Difference between an "AK-47" before and after the Assualt Weapons Ban and one available during the AWB.

For fun please dont look it up on the web, just post what you know off the top of your head.

Thanks guys!!! :headbang2

Gun Show Loophole Not having to wait to purchase?

Assualt Weapon anything you can assult someone with, could be a my little pony as far as I'm concerned.

I'll take a stab at it

I've heard the loophole thing being a no wait period. Also referred to half-ass background checks.

Who's definition? The governemnt's list involves a bunch of different brands/models like Steyr Aug, UZI, street sweepers, AR-15's and a bunch of other random stuff. Also if it has a bunch of features.

My opinion any weapon can be an assualt weapon but no weapon has to be one.

Pre vs post is that it's allowed to have stuff like 10+ roung mags, bayonets, folding stocks and stuff like that right? There's other stuff but that's all I've really heard.

Edit: And the only guns I really "know" about are guns used for hunting... so this is just what I've heard from various places through the years. It may very well be wrong.

Keep em coming guys, a few are close to being correct, a my little pony is definately an assualt weapon for instance.

I find it very interesting peoples perceptions of these media "buzz words" are generally no where near accuarte to what they really "mean."

Another question, was this "AK-47" shown here with 75rnd drum and forward pistol grip legal or illegal during the AWB?

Was the AK-47 semi or full automatic fire? Generally all fully auto rifles require class III permit (same used to buy/own/use a silencer).

Oh my crap! I can't believe MFK has gun folks too! It's official; this site kicks complete ass. I wouldn't mind opening a Gun/fish store one day, as those are my two favorite things!

Regarding HR 45 (I believe that is what your talking about?) it's not just assault weapons -- it's ANY magazine fed firearm. And it's mainly dealing with registration, and an attempt to force gun manufacturers who produce autoloaders to install a stamp on the slide/cartridge ejector to stamp a serial number on the ammo used.

Is anyone else here a CCW holder?

HR 45 is complete BS and has a snowball chance in hell of passing. Im talking about current media buzzwords like "assualt weapo","gun show loop hole", etc.

I know, HR 45 was intended to stir stuff up and nobody ever expected it to pass. I inquired about it with the NRA and they said they aren't even worried about it.

This "assault weapon" stuff is ridiculous. How do you even define "assault weapon"? All I know is I have a Marlin 22mag rifle with two different stocks -- one being very tactical, and I guarantee 95% of the population would think my little .22 mag would be an "assault rifle" one way, and a vermit rifle the other....SAME GUN!

It never ceases to amaze me how people distort our 2nd amendment rights based on media buzz words and bickering...

Oh, and on the AK-47, it was legal.
