Now I am pi55ed at my parents for that "little" modification they had made on me early in life...
I agree.. Dobermans are supposed to have tails & floppy ears, my cats have claws... these fish have tails.. we should not "play" with the features just because we think they are (or might be) cute...

would you be angry if they got you an optional, say, back surgery whose absence wouldn't kill you, but whose performance would make your life much better?

Yeah but docking a dogs tail or ears doesn't severely limit their ability to move. But I do understand your point, I just think they are at different extremes.
