i hace an oscar in my current tank and i just got a hold of a bluegill which is about 4-5 inches and my oscar is about 3-4 will there be any conflict between them two or will they be good its about a 30gal tank that i have for now

mite get a better response if you post in the correct forum, oscars are CA and bluegill are native

Bluegill are highly aggressive and being in a tank that small with a 3-4 inch oscar might end up with some unhappy consequences for the oscar. A 5 inch blue gill can be aggro and might end up killing the oscar. You also have to think about water parameters, ph, temperature etc etc. I think you will get more answers from the native lounge or the CA cichlid lounge. Good luck.

even in a bigger tank the bluegill will probably be too aggressive towards the oscar

Um, well the Oscar actually tends to be more aggressive and has a larger, meaner mouth than the gill. I do not know why everyone is thinking the other way around...I used to have a tank that had three oscars and four gills. The only gill that did not get picked on was one that hid in a cave.

Any blugill I've had in the past was pretty tough and would def. hold theie own w/any O.

I am not saying bluegills are not tough. Natives are my favorite fish, its just that Oscars are big and mean and stupid and basically rambunctious. Also the top size for and oscar is larger, so you dont have to worry bout the gill eventually outgrowing him. I think they are good in a tank together, I mean if the tank is too small they are going to fight all the time probably but they are both pretty tough.
