So I've been nursing this guy back to health for a few months now. When I first got him there was very little color to him, he was malnourished, had some bacterial infections and was starting to show signs of HITH. I asked you guys for advice on what I may have been doing right or wrong for him. Y'all stressed lots of water changes. I was doing 50% 2x a week but took what you guys said to heart and now we are doing 90% 2x wk. Y'all were right and I think he's better for it. You guys also helped me name him so that's also appreciated. His colors are coming in nice too. He started out totally grey, then got a few blurry orange freckles here and there. Now his markings are starting to become sharply defined and are getting redder all the time.

I just wanted to thank you guys for answering my silly oscar noob questions. I was taking "ok" care of him before but because of direct advice and things I've picked up lurking, hes getting the proper care he deserves I think. It is starting to show I hope.20180803_062707.jpg

Lazarus is looking good.:) Great job nursing him back to health. Now you can educate Newbies with Oscar's lol.
I used to do that for people with goldfish problems but I got tired of explaining why you can't keep 15 fish in a bowl. I'm still an oscar noob i think. Us newbies give you experts headaches lol

No you have hands on experience with care of Oscar's. Not a noob anymore imo.
I didn't consider myself well experienced in keeping GF and Koi until I had been doing it for 25 yrs lol. The one thing I have learned for sure from keeping fish is there's more I don't know than what I do know. I am grateful for the wisdom you all have shared with me.

Lazarus is beautiful. And lucky to have an owner that cares enough to give him proper care. Too many oscars don’t get that luxury.

And I hear ya on the goldfish. No one in my family understands why they need so much care, or believes they will just grow to a size suitable to their surroundings >.< Seeing goldfish in bowls makes me so sad.

I like the goldie in your profile pic. Lion head oranda?

Oranda. 9inches and 10yrs old. And she's an aggravating old bat.

Haha, well she is lovely. I bet very impressive in person!
I have a red cap oranda. They always make me think of my little sis. She loves them, but never had luck keeping them. It wasn’t till I started keeping fish myself that I found out why.
