Forgive me me if this is a silly question, can anabantoid species crossbreed?

I am pretty sure that the gold/blue/opaline, etc "group" do. In fact the Opaline, I believe, is a hybrid to begin with. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Bettas do, also, I believe.
