does anyone have any experience with the original climbing perch Anabas Testudineus? i had never actually seen one for sale until the other day, so of course i bought it. wow, this thing is a beast, i knew they were a little predatory but damn, its already torn three large platies to shreds. not really a big deal, they were in there as dithers/food. the platies werent even close to being able to swallow. so far he is fine with the cichlids though. I almost feel like i got a pike cichlid by how it acts. anyway id love to hear any experiences people have had with this fish. have you had the same experience, or not. its nice when you get something you didnt know was so cool.

thought id post pics, not the most colorfull fish ever lol, but behavior is awsome. he was beat up when i got him, so he looks a bit ragged

Nice! Do you think he would be good with tiger barbs because suddenly I want one for my tank.

I'd imagine it would be fine with tiger barbs. Mine has only gotton the platies cause there pretty slow. The appetite this thing has is unbelievable too. I'm confide t I will never have a single speck of uneaten food in this tank ever again.

Thanks, I might keep one in with some tiger barbs and African cichlids

i have 6 of them in my 75 gal tank but they are on the soft side, they dont really attack the guppies on the tank but when it comes to pellets and market shrimp they eat like pigs, but i have had 3 in the past that will kill anything that they can bite, and also your fish has a nice color, on the fishs that i have thay will only turn olive when theryr out of the tank but most o the time they are just bluish grey,

kept them in the past-great fish with big appetite and can grow quite big. Took a while for mine to settle in but once it did it was very outgoing

BTW check the Practical Fishkeeping werbsite-theres a great video showing them crawling over land

Yeah, I really like him. Great personality. He got too aggressive for my 75 so he is chilling in a ten right now while I search Craigslist for a 30 gallon or so. Hopefully I can find one in the next few days
