Does anyone with experience of doing it know the working dosage of clove oil to bodyweight when SEDATING fish where necessary, when moving tanks etc? Obviously precise is ratios necessary as a supraphysiologic dosing rate shall result is EUTHANISING the subject. Thanks

Before anyone jumps in here and gives you anything they call "advice" I would very much like to caution you on using clove oil as a seditive for fish.

Clove oil is not very effective and it is easier to kill the fish than sedate it. MS-222 (tricaine) is a much better product with much better reliability.

Really unless you are trained in sedating fish I would advise you not to try it or keep to standardized chemicals such as Tranquil, which are easy to use and generally safe and effective.

Hit up the vet would be my suggestion if you're dead set on using an anesthetic. You said 'when moving tanks, etc.?'; is the reason you are exploring the idea because you're moving your tank? Perhaps if you gave your specifics as to why you're interested in the idea someone here with more experience and knowledge can help you better.

Also, what type of fish is it that you were considering anesthetizing?

Thank you for the advice, I am aware of MS-222 and I shall go down that route should I find it prudent.

Yes, I have used a vet for fish treatment twice at considerable cost, which I don't mind, this might be another time for future use. I am planning ahead for when I need to move 2 or 3 of my Channa micropeltes, a few months away yet, this shall be when they reach 20"-24", therefore you can understand why...

I've always dosed on tank volume in ppm. Some fish take to MS-222 quickly, and some take very high amounts to go down. I've personally never knocked down that species, so I can't offer you much.
I will say start low (30 ppm) and add in amounts to take it up about 10 ppm at a time if you are unsure.

Thank you for the advice Zoodiver. I shall bear that in mind when the time comes.
