Anchor Worms?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay I found out Dimlin can be used to kill them, but says for ponds only. What would happen if I used it in a aquarium?

Try Clout or Jungle Labs Parasite Clear. Depends on what kind of fish you are going to treat. Clout is really strong and can kill some fish, but to be safe I'd go with the Jungle Labs Parasite Clear which can be found at Walmart. Then raise the temp. in the tank and add a little salt.

You HAVE to pull them off! Lighten up on the medication. Clout is good, but you've got to get them off. The meds say that they drop off after they die, which is not true. I had some cons I got a while ago that had them when I got them. Thankfully I quarenteened them before dumping into a comm tank, and I noticed the little anchor worms. Make sure their tail is split. Otherwise it's something else. I just pulled the fish, and used tweezers to pull them off. Put them back in the water and treated with anti parasite. Good luck. They can be a PITA!!!

Well its a tank colum at petco, so I dont have the time to pull worms off of hundreds of fish. This has happend last month(bad distributers) and they put all the fish in the back till they died, Im just trying to find another way to save all the fish. They are all mollies platies swordtails and guppies, I was thinking if we converted it too brakish and then low salt that would kill the worms. Would that work?

I have used the stuff twice to get rid of anchorworm and it worked great. Used it once in a 30g and once in a 75g. THe first time I removed the worms, the second time I didn't bother and it still worked.

Anchor worms are nasty and dangerous to your fish. The only way I can recommend you to keep your aquarium clean and your fish healthy, free of diseases is that you should use the UV light sterillizer. If you use it, you shouldn;t have to worry about any kind of problems to your fish.
