Ok so I have some large amazon swords in my 500g tank. Substrate is sand, and my catfish has been digging them up at night. My question, what can i use to keep them down? I know when they come into the lfs they have some type of metal band on them... What wouldn't harm my fish? Can i use fishing weights and some cotton thread? Im thinking like the big one ounce weights and just bury the weight. Any other ideaqs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can place rocks around the plants

I wouldn't recommend using fishing weights unless you are sure they aren't made of lead. What i use are 3 inch long pieces of iron reinforcing with venetian blind cord in loop knots around the iron and the plant root ball respectively. I would only use thick fishing line as there is a danger that the fish can cut themselves on thin fishing line. Thin fishing line also isn't great for the root balls of the plants.

I was going to use some yarn that isn't dyed, since it would be soft. I don't think they make lead weights anymore since they are a hazard to wildlife. I know my Lfs doesn't have plant anchors, but what do they look like?
