helping a friend. 100 gallon tank. Has the sump setup up top. Powerhead is fried. What kind would you recommend that would be strong enough to pull water up and push it down efficiently? She's trying to use as many of the pieces from what she has... I've looked this up but, it looks ancient with no luck. TIA. 1689688652718.png

Bigger concern might be the fittings if you want it to slot right in.
What's wrong with the powerhead? Impeller and shaft are pretty much the only wear items.

Not sure...she said it doesn't work...so...that's all i got...i dunno if she can take it apart or impeller is jammed...or even has an impeller to begin with. I'll doublecheck but...I have shared that concern as well...she might need new piping and a new powerhead and just call it a day...lol. TY

Powerheads can sometimes be stopped by 1 grain of sand, or a tiny snail wedged the right (wrong way)
Sometimes all it takes to get them working again is brushing out the volute, and rinsing off the impeller.
Of course if the electric motor is shorted out, and dead well......
I like the Sicce units for adding flow to my tanks, they even offer a warranty.

There are plenty of brands to choose from depending on what your needs are.

Although the video above is aimed at reefers, some of the same principals apply to fresh water tanks.
