Folks, snakeheads don't do that much damage to native stocks. At least C argus doesn't. This I know from living in a country that purposely released them for food nearly a century ago. Ponds that C argus inhabit are 'alive'. There's an abundance of wildlife. LOT'S of small native fish, frogs, tadpoles, waterbirds etc etc are present. Snakeheads need there own territories, and therefore won't take up every square inch of a pond. A balance is in place with these fish, and this is in a country with very few predators which feed on S/Hs.
In the US for example there are alligators, turtles, fish eating birds, fish eating fish which will help to keep their numbers in check. So stop worrying... they aren't as bad as the media is making them out to be.
Now if you really want to know some TRUE invasive species that have done damage, try large mouth & small mouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill to name just a few. These are North American natives unless I'm mistaken.
