I went to the local LFS and asked about their availability on bichirs. They mainly carry community fish and the few oddball fish here and there. The woman wrote me a list of what she can get from their supplier, and was kinda lost lol. I'm fairly new with bichir species so bare with me. This is the list how she wrote it:

Albino:
4" $15.00

Guinean
6" $45.00

Nigerian
9" $30.00
4" $7.50

Orante
6" $60.00

I'm assuming the albino, and nigerian are senagals? I know what the Ornate is and the price is a little high for me. I'm pretty sure I've seen them cheaper around here. I'm lost on what the Guinean may be though.

Thoughts?

nigerian is most likely endlicheri....

I really doubt a 4" endlicheri is only gonna cost $7.50, if his location is correct 4" endlicheri go for $20- 30 minimum.

Nigerian is sengal. My LFS gets sengals labled as nigerian from their wholesaler

+1

Never heard of Fantastic Fins. Do they usually have bichir in stock? I was planning on driving to Highland this weekend. If they don't have anything I might have to swing out that way.

I'd really like to get a lapradei. As of yet, I haven't seen any around and was hoping that's was the Guinean was. That or an endli. Any idea on prices for MI?

PS I'm a chick ;D

Fantastic Fins is in Livonia. They always have the uncommon polypterus. Last I check they had endlicheris, ornates, albinos, delhezis, palmas, etc. They have delhezis for $45 (3"), ornates $45, and albinos (3") $15. I just sold my 6" endlicheri for $30 to pi-eyed.

PS my bad ma'am, I just assume if you keep fish you were a dude.

Also would you like to buy an indo datnoid?

Guinean may be an Ansorgii. If it is, I'd snatch it up with a quickness.
