I am looking to see if this species is possibly imported often. I live in Canada and at times challenging for certain species. This andinoacara is a bucket list fish of mine. Does anyone know of imports out to Canada or to Canada from the USA?
https://www.facebook.com/belowwater/Does Oliver no longer import? He actually managed to get stuff I couldn’t in the states and I actually imported from him in Canada for certain species.
He does but I do find him to be more expensive. Spencer is ok but not sure if that is something ever on his listDoes Oliver no longer import? He actually managed to get stuff I couldn’t in the states and I actually imported from him in Canada for certain species.
I know there are difficulties for sure. I am having a hell of a time importing goodeids.Correct. I have offered this species in the recent past. I had Costa Rican collected stock in 2020 & 2021 that were collected by colleague and were bred in his facility as well as mine. Then in mid 2021 we had collected our own from inside the Darien gap between Colombia & Panama. Neither population sold very well and I have not since offered them or reimported the species due to the slow sales and low demand.
This the case for many 'rare' species. Many are not necessarily 'rare' but more often are just not worth the time, costs, and space used in importing them versus what they will retail for or what the demand is on them.
As for Canada, Canada has become one of the most difficult countries to export to. Myself here at TUIC and I know Dan @ Cota were doing it but for the most part, some exceptions of course, we have both stopped shipping into Canada due to all of the hurdles. If you are near the US border I can still get you fish so just shoot me an email for the information.
