So I have some exciting news my andraos locked up the other night, was just wondering roughly how long before I expect fry

Congrats!

Is the male holding eggs or was it a mock spawning ? Assuming he's holding eggs they should hatch into fry quickly 3-5 days give or take. Might be a few weeks before you see them free swimming though because he'll hold them as long as he can.

It's best not to disturbs him while he's holding but if you watch carefully he'll start lingering at the surface once they hatch because the fry will need air too and if you watch closely at that point you'll likly see the odd tiny white fry slip out of his mouth or out his gills before he scoops it back up .

Within a couple weeks they should be devoloped enough that he stops holding them full time & He'll just keep them gathered around him for protection .

Hope that helps! Good luck and keep us updated!

Also when the time comes pm me , I'll take a few dozen off your hands!

K sounds good, I'm trying to stay away from the tank as much as possible so I don't disturb them, but I'll see if I can see if he's holdin or not

I just seen fry swiming around last night

Nice, good luck!

My andrao pair just spawned with 4 other andraos in the tank. Female released about 200 eggs and the male is holding now.

Do you know how many days it took for the fry to become free swimming after wrapping? Thanks
