TLDR: I got a HTC Vivid recently, probably going to exchange it for a Samsung Galaxy SII. But with the Galaxy Nexus coming out soon, I'm not sure if I should just wait for that instead...not sure about the specs on the Nexus vs the SII.

So I went and upgraded to an HTC Vivid earlier this month. Switching from an iPhone 3gs, I'm digging the android OS & its features. However, I've learned a few things...

Before I upgraded I had narrowed it down between the Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy SII. I decided to go with the HTC because I liked the launcher better...that was basically the only reason. Now, after using the phone for a few weeks I've realized that the launcher is a completely irrelevant point because I'm just using GOLauncher EX anyways.

With that in mind, I'm thinking of going back and exchanging my phone for the galaxySII. Its got the 1.5ghz processor where the Vivid has the 1.2. However, the resolution is a bit lower; the HTC uses an LCD screen and the Samsung has the amoLED screen...not sure of the real difference here gotta read up some. The samsung is also lighter and thinner, although I'm a little worried that it will feel TOO light...I don't think that'll really be an issue though. The Samsung also has the buttons across the bottom arranged differently, putting the home button in a much easier to reach spot, which has been a bit of an issue for me & my small hands.

Now, with all that in mind, I'm also looking at the Galaxy Nexus coming out. Definitely looks like a pretty sweet phone. Its got the AMOLED and its at a 1280x720 resolution, which sounds amazing. It weight is right between the other two phones, it has double the storage space, and the camera worries me. Its only 5mp as opposed to the 8 on the other two phones, but I'm wondering if the quality is just as good?

The nexus is slated to come out on the 8th it looks like, my return period ends on the 8th. If I return the phone now and go back to my 3gs for a while I would have to wait until AT&T processes the return (bought the phone at best buy) until I can re-upgrade. If I go with the SII I can just bring it in and exchange it right away.

So, I think I'm pretty well decided that I'd rather have the SII than the Vivid, but I'm not sure about the galaxy nexus.

The SII has a faster processor & higher MP camera (although I know the MP's aren't always the big thing to worry about in a camera). The galaxy Nexus has more storage, higher resolution display, curved glass...

Gahhhhhhhhh phone debates

--After thinking about it for a bit I think the SMART thing to do is going to be return the Vivid and wait for the Nexus to come out...see how that phone is and make a decision from there.
