these anemone usually don't let clowns host in them
:screwy:

WHy shouldn't that anenome be hosted? that is a common condi anenome or an "atlantic anenome". Sure they aren't considered a host anenome but alot of clowns host in these in captivity. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. please share your reasons, maybe I'm missing something.

Some anamies will not be hosted i had a 14"green carpet that would not take a host it ate so many fish (i'e)3 clarki clowns 1 maroon clown and 3 bamboo cat sharks

I've had a half dozen "purple tip"(Atlantic) anemones and they all DEVOURED fish.

do they throw out a skeleton/head, or do they eat the whole thing? is there a struggle, or is the fish paralyzed in seconds? does the fish feel the anenome out before attempting to host, or do they just jump on it like a couch?

i have two of those and a carpet but both of my clowns wont host in them.
my clown are tank raised. how would i get them to host and to what kind of anemones? :newbie:

What kind of clowns?
My true perculas have hosted in carpets, but I've had some that won't host and others that will host in anything that was thrown in. Kinda hit or miss.

Carpet Anem's are the stickiest anem's they are. They will often eat many fish that attempt to host in them. That is not to say that clownfish don't host in them, in fact many clownfish do i.e. the saddleback clownfish (a. Polymnus), etc.

The most common host for clownfish in captivity is a bubble tip anenome BTA (e.quadricolor) this anenome is a lower light anenome and does excellent in captivity (in fact mine just split) BTA's are not a natural host for many clownfish but some reason clowns tend to like this anem's in captivity. I've had Maroon clowns, True percs, ocellaris, saddlebacks, clarki's, personally host in BTA's for me.

It doesn't really matter if a clown is captive born or tank raised or wild caught. The fish ultimately decides whether it will host in that specific anem or not. That being said, Wilc Caught clowns typically will host much faster than CB or TR clowns. In nature it is rare to find a clown without a anem host.

Everyone loves a pic
