Carpet Anem's are the stickiest anem's they are. They will often eat many fish that attempt to host in them. That is not to say that clownfish don't host in them, in fact many clownfish do i.e. the saddleback clownfish (a. Polymnus), etc.
The most common host for clownfish in captivity is a bubble tip anenome BTA (e.quadricolor) this anenome is a lower light anenome and does excellent in captivity (in fact mine just split) BTA's are not a natural host for many clownfish but some reason clowns tend to like this anem's in captivity. I've had Maroon clowns, True percs, ocellaris, saddlebacks, clarki's, personally host in BTA's for me.
It doesn't really matter if a clown is captive born or tank raised or wild caught. The fish ultimately decides whether it will host in that specific anem or not. That being said, Wilc Caught clowns typically will host much faster than CB or TR clowns. In nature it is rare to find a clown without a anem host.
