I have purchased and set up a 12 gallon eclipse saltwater tank. It is completely cycled and has plenty of liverock, 2 clownfish and a few crabs, a shrimp, and a scooter blenny.

The light is 13w I believe. Can I keep an anenome with the clownfish in this setup?

I know I can have mushrooms, feather dusters but not sure about what else. I imagine corals are probably out of the ?

A) 12 gallon is way too small for a pair of clowns
B) most people will tell you it's too small for 1
C) mushrooms are anenomes
D) your lights isn't good enough
E) a scooter blenny is going to die in ledd than a month in that tank
F) i suggest reading as much as you can as fast as you can before starting this tank
G) should i go on?

I know 2 people who have 12 gallons and have had clowns in their tanks for 4 and 5 years. They also each have a scooter and haven't had problems

then you know the 2 luckiest people in the world

ArizonaGrace - Your system seems cramped already, so adding an anemone into the mix - while desirable for Clowns, is not recommended for that tank. Your stock list was also quite vague. Which type of Clowns, Shrimp, and Crabs do you currently have in there? Nano's can be beautiful, but they are easy to overload. Before any of us can give you truly informative advice, it would be helpful if you could provide the names of the animals you have in there currently. Also, if you have a picture, would you mind posting it?

There is a lot of back and forth crap on the internet and the more research you do the more you get lost in it by all. I joined this forum because I respect the up front nature of it's members....

I have about 12 very small blue legged crabs, 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 scooter blenny and 2 clowns. There is liverock and a musroom rock in there, but it takes little space.

Japanese Style Stocking!!! lol =D
Add a big over-kill Filter and Super Sump twice the tank size and shove it some where, under out of site...

Swimming space for clowns when they get adult might be a lil small, u can probably get away with it, but it might stump some growth on the clowns =S but... but..

Big Big sump or filter, (space wise in the tank will still be limited but..)
Interms of Water and Bioload stuff.. Adding a Sump/Big Big lvl 9999 Filter will help cuz the system has more water circulating and stuff Weee!!! this is just a thought, doesnt mean the idea is correct lol =^____^=

Arizonagrace, Is the blenny eating prepared foods? How long have you had him?

They all eat frozen brine shrimp. I do feed pellets to the clowns once a week, but I am not sure if the blenny is eating the pellets.

Even though I know 2 people who have clowns living in 12 gallons very happily for 5 years, (and have been told by breeders and other professionals) that this setup is okay with what I currently have, I decided to go ahead and get the 24 gallon tank and move everyone to it once it is cycled as soon as I can get the $ for it.

I would prefer to upgrade my 20 gallon freshwater tank, but I am afraid to ask on this site what I would need to turn my freshwater 20 into a saltwater 20.
