I was talking to my buddy who has been breeding angels for years! And he was telling me about how you if you feed the angels pellets they should be fed right whennthe lights are turned on because that gives them time to soak, if they dont soak they will otherwise bloat and die! I wasn't sure about this and have never heard this before, except from him! But I am inclined to beleive him because he has been breeding them for so long!

Does anyone else have and take on this? Anyone else heard this, have experience with it?

Bloat is possible in angels but unheard of usually. Most cases are associated with constipation. Simply feed what you can give in five minutes and if bloated, fast the fish for at least a few days.

I have had several angels over the years. The only time I have ever had issues with bloat is when I let my gf overfeed them. It seems that too much crude solids in your foods causes this. I switched to a food that contains more veg. matter. This seemed to cure any issues I had before. If you do however come down with bloat in one of your angels, the best cure is a single frozen pea thawed then smash between your fingers and feed to bloated angel. This is a fast cure for bloat.

my flag cichlid (similar to angelfish) had what i thought was bloat. ended up being constipation. i stopped feeding it cheap pellets, and fed it nutrafin max (natural) colour enhancing flakes as a staple instead. still going good.
