I have 2 EBJD one male and one female. The male is about 4" and the female like 3"ish.

I have a tall 48 gallon tank. My filter runs about about 650+ GPH and I water change weekley.

When the fish get big enough I'm going to get an 80 gallon acrylic ;D.

I was wondering if I could add an angel fish or 2 to this setup and move them into the 80 gal. with the two JD's when the time comes. If so what type of angel would be the best? I've been eyeing the black veil ones.

let me know what you think, thanks. :headbang2

i wouldnt reccomend it, dempseys are very aggressive/ territorial, 2 in an 80 is already near your stock limit. angels are timid, and are likely to be roughed up by large cichlids such as dempseys, i would reccomend buying 5/6 silver dollars as dither fish.

EBJD's are more timid then their relatives, JD's. I'd have to find two full sized angels, but I bet I could get away with it. I dont recommended doing it, but I bet it's possible.

i wouldnt risk it

I wouldn't to it...... I had problems with a juvi firemouth terrorizing my full grown angel and firemouths are much more docile than jacks......

At best, you ll end up with a sick angel due to all the stress...

I've always experienced the opposite. (in regards to EJBD)

Again, to the OP though, I don't recommend it, but I bet it could be done.

Oops.... Op did say EB... I was thinking regular Jd. I agree though, still risky...

thanks for the advice guys. I think im going to give it a shot, I found a pretty good size black angel fish at my LFS in any case if things dont work out I have a 30 gallon tank I could put it in and trade it back or something.

It could work. Good to have back up tank if it doesn't though.. I would watch the dempseys and make sure they don't try to spawn. Then you will definitely have problems. I cichlid mom is a force to be reckoned with. I'd the make and female try to spawn you will see territorial disputes or worse.. Good luck..
