Hi I have been having some problems with my angel fish i got it when it was maybe 2-3 inches. A while ago my angel got fin rot i got API Melfix and it went away know it i left on a trip for a week (had my family feed my fish) i came back and it had fin rot again so know if i mis put the Melfix for one day it loses half of its fin the next day dont know what to do. please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fin rot is caused by detereorating water quality. Angelfish are very suseptable to this do to the extreamly high fins they posess. Test your water, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Ph. Clean your filter do a 50% water change while vacuming the substrate. Don't forget the conditioner with the water change. Do a daily 25% water change. for the next seven days. After this do weekly 50% water changes and keep your filter and substrate clean don't over feed and monitor your water parameters keep nitrates as low as possibile. Below 15ppm and you should have no other issues with this. No meds needed unless it develops a secondary infection which it shouldn't if you keep everything clean. Remember to rinse your filter in a bucket of tank water to preserve your BB.

ok thanks i will try and do that i tested me water and the only problems with it is the ammonia has been up in the .25 for a few days and ive been trying to get it down thanks for the help

A presents of ammonia would indacate an uncycled tank. Follow the instructions above but continue with water changes until you read 0 ammonia,0 nitrites and a managable level of nitrites. You can add 1 tablespoon of salt per 10 gallons of water to help reduce ammonia and nitrite toxicty while the tank cycles.
