hey guys i got some great news...my breeing pair of angelfish have finally spawned!!...im thinking i got around 150-200 eggs at the moment but i need some help.

Whet do i need to do know?

Should i remove the parents?

How long will it take for them to hatch?

any advise will be great!

First time spawners will usually eat their eggs. Don't worry though as they will spawn again. But if you wish to hatch the eggs yourself, put a slate, PVC pipe or anything movable in the tank where the angels will lay so you can remove the site later on and place it in another tank. Place airstone beside it to imitate the angels fanning their eggs. Add methylene blue to avoid fungal development. Usually white eggs are infertile and the parents will eat them.

It may take about 4-5 days for the eggs to hatch. Do not expect however the fry to survive if this was done in the community tank.

the parents are in a seperate tank with the eggs and i was thinking of putting the parents in my communtiy tank so then the eggs will be the only fish in my tank...is this a good idea?

It is your decision whether you wish to separate the eggs from their parents or not. If you however have plans to raise the fry and are able to accommodate dozens of them, then you may do so.

Don't mean to derail this thread by any means. My friend also has some eggs on a slate and I was wondering what he could do with all the angels....does any wholesaler buy them.? I would rather not send them to the LFS, but ship them to someone who would buy all of them. Any info would be appreciated...PM me! Thanks!

hello,

congrats!!!.I have 9 pairs myself and I get about 2 spawns every 10 days, today my platinum pair laid about 600 eggs (this is their 5 spawn, so they parent raise them). anyways, if this is their first spawn you can bet on them being eaten, unless you pull them. If you do this, make sure you buy some fungus medication for the eggs, and if any of them turn white, remove the white eggs immediately ( an eyedropper will work). healthy eggs are clear, and unfertilized are white). it normally takes 3 days for them to start moving, you will see tails ( they are called wigglers in that stage), and in another few days after they have consumed their egg sacs, they will become free swimming, this is when you can feed them their first meal, bbs, or mine love liquid fry food. If I were you, i would just let the parents learn not to eat them, and this normally takes a few spawns. ( some pairs may never learn not to eat their babies) If the angels are in their breeding cycle, you should continue to get spawns every 10-15 days for a few months, then they will take a month or so off, and then start back again. do not worry, you will have more babies than you can handle!!! Thanks. If you have any other questions, please contact me at acourtney007@gmail.com.
